alcyone finds a tree and crit fails climbing up it. she falls out of it, taking 1 damage. she takes 10 next time and ties herself to the tree.
silka: fuck this, sanvil's not worth it; i'm going back to the cave.
she leaves.
kyontha sleeps at the bottom of the tree.
kaya stays up for first watch.
kaya sees two terrible brain-eaters milling past and tries to hold very still so they don't notice us.
the brain-eaters attack. brain-eater paralyzes kaya, but she breaks free to bomb it. it paralyzes kyontha too.
kaya throws an acid bomb into the tree and alcy jumps down like a ninja.
brain eater casts lightning bolt and gets them both.
terrified, alcyone books it first chance she gets back to the cave.
kyontha breaks free of the paralysis.
alcyone runs into aziza on her way out, tries to persuade her to turn around and run the other direction with her. everyone else turns and runs now too. they return to the cave. after healing literally anyone else, kaya heals alcyone with the wand. everyone goes to sleep.

aziza notices that isuma is still not here.

aziza: what happened to isuma, guys? i isuma'd she'd be here.
kyontha: no
kaya: about that. she went to a better place.
aziza: oh no
kyontha: she blew herself up to save us.
kaya: she was like "i got this."
kyontha: she didn't have it though.

alcyone: we should use kyontha's shadow path power to get past the evil monster and to sanvil's brain.
aziza: let's table that plan.
kyontha: i can invisible us all past it.
alcyone: doesn't it have tremorsense?
kyontha: did we still have emp grenades? that's what isuma used right?
kaya: i have 8.
aziza: i have an emp pistol!
kyontha: yeah but this thing is ... enormous. it's the size of a building.
alcy: what if we each use grenades?
kyontha: and run away if they don't work? except it's very fast.
alcy: we could run away via shadow tunnel!
kyontha: stay close, i guess.

kaya's acid bomb causes the red eye to start flipping out. the machine starts staggering backwards weirdly. aziza and alcyone's bombs go off. it blows up.

alcy: based on our luck, kaya, would you heal me?
kaya: are you sure you don't want to run away from the dead robot? maybe you can make some new friends ... who will heal you ... i'm kidding, i'm gonna heal you, i just wanted you to listen to that first.
kaya heals her.
kaya: are you good? do you need more?
alcy: i mean, i'm still a little—
kaya: for the price of another lecture on the power of friendship, i—
alcy: actually i'm feeling fine.

alcy searches the cavern for sanvil's brain, but does not find it. the machine seems to have been guarding a pucker-like growth of green, scaly flesh. then there's a corridor exiting to the south. there's also remnants of isuma lying about. there's a masterwork dagger on the ground. kyontha takes it. alcyone picks up her zero rifle. aziza picks up her +1 huntsman double-barrel pistol. she also has +1 invulnerability hide armor, alcy grabs this to sell. filter mask (+2 vs inhaled poisons), which alcy picks up. and she has a hard light shield. kaya takes it.

alcy pushes through the pucker wall. the walls are weird and scaly here. it's not like a cave wall. it looks almost like crocodile skin in color and texture. there's also strange protrusions that look like repeating patterns of geometric figures. there's a thin, smelly, translucent jelly coating the wall. infrequently in the hall, the wall twitches and ripples; as if muscles were moving underneath. there are numerous, small, glowing creatures. weird jellyfish the size of alcy's hand that are slithering and floating across the walls. they provide a dim illumination in here — low light.

alcy pushes through another pucker wall. kyontha and kaya stay behind. an immense sculpture/machine cephalopod built of fleshy leather and strips of dull red chitin looms against the wall. it has seven tentacles, splayed out into the room. each arm ends in a bulbous pucker the size of a curled up halfling. aziza notices something seems to be moving in each of the bulbous ends of the tentacles; almost like it's a sac on the end.

alcy scoots against the wall and the tentacles start moving slightly, but the end sacs are so heavy that they can't thrash much. the sacs start to peel backwards. it births more of the tiny spiders from last night. aziza gathers the machine is incubating and producing these things. they probably have poison abilities. as long as the machine is on, these will be produced.

aziza: we need to destroy the machine.

the little monsters kill kyontha.
we took out all 7 spider things. the machine needed to be disabled. it took kaya a million tries. alcy got stunned and almost died, but aziza dragged her out of the room.
