shaw leads the way down the hallway towards doc hellbroth. they sneak in theory, but are pretty much just walking right up to the door.

shaw: do we want to go through the giant mech door
alcy: giant mech???? i was high last time we were here.
silka: oh right.
kaya: aziza went inside and immediately turned around.
alcy: that's promising.

the door to the lab opens and doc hellbroth appears at the top of the stairs, wiping his hands on a rag.
HB: can i help you? are you here to have some implants done? i didn't think i had an appointment on the books.
alcy: yes. appointment. we had an appointment.
shaw: yes we had an appointment but last time we came here but you weren't here so we had to come back.
HB: i see. well, come inside.
he pulls out a knife. shaw can tell he's onto them and is trying to lure them inside.

the fight:
shaw tries to possess hellbroth and fails. alcyone moves past sanvil and shaw in order to go into a rage and beat the shit out of hellbroth with her hammer. shaw and silka step in to join in the murder, but it's kaya who really wrecks hellbroth some more. hellbroth steps back into his workshop and fails to hit alcy with some mysterious syringe darts.

but waiting in the workshop is his 'doom mech,' which is probably aptly named. it folds itself into a rolling wall of grinding gears measuring 10x10. this clockwork golem, forged from a thousand gears, is ruthlessly efficient at grinding and slicing foes to ribbons. it has the wall of gears ability, but once it's turned into that, it can't move anymore until it takes its normal form. it's blocking the door, but it's stuck there until it turns back. it can't do anything else; it can't attack in this form. it has no substantial weaknesses; adamantine bypasses its damage reduction. it can revert back as a move action. you can pass through it, but you take a ton of damage.

kaya shares this information with the class.
silka: sanvil, it's all you. how are you taking care of that?
sanvil casts bull's strength on himself. alcyone can't help but NOTICE HE DIDN'T HELP HER as she steps forward to use her breath weapon to hit hellbroth through the grinding wall.

silka walks right through the wall and lets it shred her so she can do six damage. shaw also goes through the doom mech wall. kaya chooses not to charge through, and the bomb explodes non-magical alchemist's fire all over it (which is somehow not magic even though acid is). HB ducks behind a table and fires a strange syringe dart at silka. kaya recognizes that the darts are full of numerian fluids, but we aren't sure if it's the watered down version or not. it doesn't take immediate apparent effect.

the mech transforms back into a robot, slams alcy and grabs her, lifting her into the air. sanvil takes his appropriate place under alcyone and gets a nat 20 to attack the mech. alcyone makes tiny dents in it while she flails overhead in a rage. silka sings her rage song and attacks the mech. shaw retreats out of the way, and kaya lobs another bomb.

the mech holds alcy against its slicing and grinding gears. when it attempts to attack silka, it attacks itself. alcy finally gets scared enough to try and free herself as sanvil attacks it again, but she fails. silka fumbles the attack, and shaw turns her attention to doc hellbroth, taking him out with her bow. kaya defeats the robot with another bomb.

aftermath:
alcyone drops out of the robot's hand and right onto sanvil, knocking him to the stairs.

sanvil: are you okay?
alcyone looks confused because she's mostly fine, and she gets up and goes to silka to express concern. shaw coup de graces hellbroth. the syringe fluid spills on the ground.
shaw: did anyone get superpowers?
silka: i don't feel like i got superpowers. i feel like i got the crap kicked out of me.
silka casts cure serious wounds on herself. shaw grabs the key to the safe. she tosses the key to silka.
shaw: where's the safe?
silka: i didn't see it. aziza was in here.
alcyone (helping sanvil to his feet): do you wanna go get mozzarella sticks?
sanvil: yeah. yeah, i do.

the gang finds the safe and loots it. shaw cries a little handing the 1200gp jewelry to silka. this room is also a functional cybernetics lab. the crew gets ready to leave, but coins roll out of hellbroth's coat.
kaya: oh, should we ...?
the gang loots him.
